Jalil
Born in 2004 in the United States, Jalil’s worth is $9.7 million. He was the grandson of the Northern Dancer, the famous Thoroughbred (a horse breed) who was the first Canadian horse to win Kentucky Derby Event. His first race happened when he was just 2 years old. Despite having a lot of records and legacy on his name, Jalil’s career was short-lived.
He retired in 2008, after serving Godolphin Racing for 3 years.
Snaafi Dancer
Snaafi cost about 10.2 million dollars when Sheikh Mohammed bought it. And since this Sheikh is both, the Emir of Dubai and the owner of a breeding company called “Aston Upthorpe Stud“, he knew how to handle Snaafi.
But despite being the descendant of the famous horse, Northern Dancer, he could not match upto his racing skills. Moreover, he had fertility problems which placed a full stop to his breeding as well. 10.2 million dollars for a waste? Seems so.
Meydan City
This beautiful horse was purchased by Aston Upthorpe Stud, an Arabic breeding company for $11.7 million. He was born in the United States in 2005. Meydan City won his first race in 2008 for Godolphin at Newmarket, England.
Meydan is also a Thoroughbred, who was bred by Jayeff B Stables in Kentucky. Apart from his solo win, he has also come second a couple of times. More than this, Meydan could never achieve. And this limited his value for the cost he was purchased for.
Seattle Dancer
This Irish-bred-racehorse became the world’s most expensive yearling in 1985 with a worth of $13.1 million. He has won 2 races, also holding the second spot for a couple of times. Owned by the British Bloodstock Agency, Seattle Dancer was more worthy in the breeding terms.
He was a good breeding horse who died in 2007 of a heart attack. But before dying he made $152,413 out of 2 wins from 5 starts.
Palloubet d’Halong
This 17-year-old Chestnut Gelding is one of the most beautiful horses in the world. It has a whopping worth of $15 million. Palloubet has 3 wins among 160 starts, which is why he is also known as the best jumping horses in the world.
He was bought by Jan Tops, an Olympic Gold Medalist, for this price. Jan coaches the Qatar Jumpers team and purchased Palloubet d’Halong to represent the country. He has won many gold, silver and bronze medals in Olympic Games and FEI World Championships.

The Green Monkey
Green Monkey is an American Thoroughbred, one of the most expensive horse breeds, that was bought for $16 million in 2006. Surprisingly, he was just a 2-year-old colt at that time. And this record-breaking purchase is the costliest till date.
The Green Monkey is a descendant of the legendary Northern Dancer and the Secretariat. He had to retire in 2008 after failing to top any race in his first 3 career starts.

Fusaichi Pegasus is the most expensive horse in the world 2020, which was bought for 70 million dollars by an Irish breeder Coolmore Stud. in fact, the term ‘Ichi‘ in his name itself means ‘No.1 or the best‘.
He has a record of 6 wins and 2 losses in a racing career of 9 starts which is really impressive. He is globally popular with the name of ‘FuPeg‘. His mindblowing performance is a gift he got from his father Mr Prospector, a Thoroughbred who was the ‘sire of sires’ and an amazing breeding stallion.
